Dodge Caliber |
????Chrysler ended production of the Caliber in November, but survivors remain on the lots of Dodge dealers, and gullible customers bought 224 of them in March. Its successor, the retro-named Dodge Dart, won't go on sale until June. The Dart won't have the Caliber's chunky body panels or handy fifth door hatch, but it will be built on an Alfa Romeo platform that will give it a far racier image than its ancestor. |
大眾Routan |
Volkswagen Routan |
????Way back in 2005, before VW got serious about the U.S. market, it decided its dealers needed a real American minivan to sell. So it changed some of the sheet metal on the Chrysler Town & Country, gave it a typically weird VW name, and handed it off to dealers. Last reengineered in 2008, the Routan languishes on VW lots next to more up-to-date Beetles and Passats and can't compete with better vans from Honda and Toyota. Now that Chrysler is linked with Fiat, and given VW's new U.S. mission, a successor vehicle seems unlikely. Ford Edge |
????A 2011 reskin has enabled the Edge to hold its own on the sales lot among higher-profile Ford crossovers Escape and Explorer. But reliability problems earned it a thumbs-down from Consumer Reports, and the Mazda platform on which it is based is going away. Today's Edge will be replaced by an all-new vehicle based on the same architecture used by the Fusion in 2014. Given Ford's current design direction, it will likely look less edgier too. |
